This Week’s Craft Meet-Up Recap

IMG_6507D.I.Y. Louisville would like to congratulate member Robin on her Blue Ribbon win at this year’s Kentucky State Fair.  She took first place in the Metal Jewelry category, and we are so happy for her!  Way to go, Robin!

Our group is finally back on schedule after our summer hiatus.  We had a great crowd at last night’s meeting, and it was great to catch up with everyone again.

If you’re interested in joining our meetings but would like to know exactly what to expect when you get there, here is a little peek at the fun we had last night:

IMG_6504Melinda and Amanda are our knitting gurus.  They always have a great knitting project underway.

IMG_6508If you don’t have a craft, no worries!  There is plenty of conversation, delicious warm beverages, and great crafty books to browse through.

IMG_6509This week, Bobbi was kind enough to demonstrate some basic crochet stitches to our group.  Bobbi’s patience was more amazing than our skillz, but Kim is determined to have a crochet blanket completed this year.

IMG_6515 No blankets in my future; I’ll just keep working on the world’s longest crochet chain.

If you live in the Louisville area and would like to attend our meetings, you can find all the information you need in the D.I.Y EVENTS TAB at the top of our blog.  You can also “like” us on Facebook to keep up to date on what our group is doing.

Happy D.I.Y.’ing!

Kentucky State Fair Entries

Well, I did it.  I actually somehow managed to find the time to get my fair entries baked.  It was touch and go there for a while and  I definitely thought about throwing in the towel, but I stayed with it.  The weekend that entries were due we had a diner party at our house and adopted 3 guinea pigs, plus the kids were suppose to start back at school that Monday.  See my dilemma?  Plus in a fit of insanity I somehow entered into four categories in the culinary department.  I only ended up with three entries, though, as I ran out of time.  So all in all I took a White Mocha Cake, iced sugar cookies and a blackberry pie.  I won't divulge too many details about them since there is always that small chance that I'll win a ribbon, which will then of course turn into a contract with The Food Network, you see how my mind works, awesome right?  I won't know until Friday when we go if I placed, but I'm really not getting my hopes up, there were so many people dropping off baked goods. So here are some pictures.
